Membership
Massachusetts Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses
MASPAN Membership Benefits

Scholarships

The Scholarship Fund has been established to assist the membership
with professional development.  Professional development is defined as
the pursuit of advanced degree in nursing, certification in perianesthesia
nursing, recertification in perianesthesia nursing, ASPAN sponsored
educational programs, and MASPAN sponsored educational programs.
In addition, MASPAN also offers the opportunity for a student nurse
scholarship.

Applications are available on the website.  Applications can also be
obtained at the membership table during the MASPAN conferences or
by contacting the Membership Chairperson.  Scholarships will be
presented at the Spring and Fall Conferences.

Newsletter

The Mayflower is MASPAN’s information link to its members.  You will
receive this publication quarterly.  Members are invited to submit articles
for publishing.  Each year the editor reviews all articles that have been
published in the Mayflower and chooses two to receive a $100 award at
the Spring Conference.  Contact the editor if you have an idea for an
article or any other message you would like to get out to the membership.

Excellence In Clinical Practice Award

Each year MASPAN honors a perianesthesia nurse by presenting the
Excellence In Clinical Practice Award at the Spring Conference.  If you
have someone you would like to nominate, please write a letter of
recommendation to the Board of Directors.  The recipient will receive a
one year membership in ASPAN/MASPAN.
Recruiter of the Year

The membership committee will award complimentary registration to an upcoming MASPAN
conference and official recognition in the newsletter and on the website to the member who
recruits the most new members.  The time period of recruiting will be from April 1st thru March
31st.  The Award will be presented at the Fall Conference

MASPAN membership has remained strong over the years but we know we can do better at
reaching out to Perianesthesia Nurses throughout our state.  Increasing our membership will
keep us dynamic, enable us to provide great conferences and give back to our membership
through scholarships, newsletters and of course the wonderful fund raising activities  at our
conferences.  More importantly it provides us a means of networking with even more colleagues
as we constantly strive to maintain and improve the high standards of our specialty
.
